#TLH is launching a Mentoring Scheme - are you interested in getting involved?
What is Mentoring?
Mentoring is the process by which an experienced, highly regarded, empathic person (the mentor) guides another individual (the mentee) in the development and re-examination of their own ideas, learning, and personal and professional development.
The mentor achieves this by listening and talking in confidence with the mentee.
Mentoring relates primarily to the identification and nurturing of potential for the whole person. It can be a long-term relationship, where goals may change. The goals are always based around the needs of the mentee, who also sets the agenda.
The mentor instead helps the mentee to develop insight and understanding through intrinsic observation - that is, becoming more aware of their own experiences.
The 9 Commandments
As a #TLH Mentor, you agree to;

Share materials, guides, books, & reference materials that will help the mentee better understand how their options
Provide guidance based upon your practical experience/ share stories and approaches that have worked/ not worked
Agree a defined time-plan and turn up for the 121 sessions. Be available for ad-hoc support and respond within agree timescales
Introduce the mentee to other people from your Network that can provide an alternative view to help them to grow still further
Inspire confidence within the mentee by helping them prepare for key events/ meetings, recommending successful approaches
Maintain an independent perspective and never attempt to 'sell' to the mentor or into their organisation
The Mentee | Mentor relationship is formed on a foundation of trust. Never divulge anything from these discussions to 3rd parties
